ROBERT HART Obituary

HART, Robert W. Of Belmont, January 25, 2017. Devoted husband of more than 50 years to the late Mary Elizabeth "Betty" (Snow) Hart. Loving father of Stephan and Connie Hart of Wilmington, DE, Melanie Baptista of London, UK, Barry Hart of Arlington, and Melissa Hart and Lloyd Johnston of Belmont. Dedicated grandfather of Erin, Sophie, Abigail, Jake, Sydney, and Kelsey. Father in law of the late Kathleen Hart. Brother-in-law of Pearl Patterson of Weymouth and Henry and Nancy Dolan of South Dennis. Loving son of the late George and Mary Ellen (Fitzgerald) Hart of Hyde Park, MA. He was the brother of the late Mary, John F., George F. II, Edward M., Jean M., Paul J., H. Virginia McDonnell & Paula J. Ross. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Stanton Funeral Home, 786 Mt. Auburn St. (Rt 16), WATERTOWN, on Tuesday at 8 A.M. Funeral Mass in the Church of St. Luke, 132 Lexington St., Belmont, at 9 A.M. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Monday 3-7 P.M. Interment Highland Meadow Cemetery. Bob was an alumnus of the Boston Latin School, Boston College (B.A.), and Wesleyan University (M. Ed). He had a long career as a devoted educator and administrator in the Boston Public Schools. He was a lifetime educator and for over 40 years served as assistant principal at the Taft School, Brighton, the Lewis School, Roxbury and the Murphy School, Dorchester. Bob had a second career as a partner in Hart Travel Service of Arlington, MA, which he and Betty ran for more than 45 years. Bob and Betty were known widely by their industry colleagues, whom they loved to be with as much as they loved travel itself. Bob was a passionate fan of all sports at all levels, which he would happily discuss in the minutest detail. It was a great joy to him that his daughter Melissa has pursued a career coaching athletics, and until his declining health intervened he faithfully attended her games (and offered his advice). Bob was also a keen student of history and of Christian theology, and was recognized by all who knew him as a kind and dignified individual with a dry wit. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bob's memory to the Pine St. Inn, 444 Harrison Ave., Boston, MA 02118, www. pinestreetinn.org would be appreciated. www.stantonfuneralhome.com
