Bedford - Opal C. Yates, a retired manager for Ashburn's Ice Cream, died Thursday at a Bedford hospital. She was 78.
Funeral will be at 4 p.m. today at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
Mrs. Yates was a member of Diamond Hill Baptist Church for 35 years and several garden clubs.
She worked for Ashburn's Ice Cream for many years until her retirement in 1973.
Mrs. Yates was a 1932 graduate of North Texas University.
Survivors: Son, Roy Yates of Arlington; daughter, Linda Carlene Blankenship of Bedford; sister, Verta Miller of Hurst; six grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
