ROBERT J. LASHA SUCCUMBS AT 78
Robert J. LaSha, 78, of Chaffey's Locks, Ont., a veteran St. Lawrence river guide, died this morning at 11:45 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. James J.Kelly, 117 Phelps st Watertown. Mr. Lasha, who had been visiting his son-in-law and daughter for the past two months, suffered a heart attack. Mrs. Kelly said. Mr. LaSha had been up and around as usual early this morning and had started to eat breakfast when he complained of not feeling well. Mr. LaSha then went to bed to rest, Mrs. Kelly said. He suffered an attack while resting and died before a physician could arrive.
Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 8:30 at the Hart funeral home and at 9 from Our Lady of the Sacred Heart church. Burial will be made in Glenwood cemetery.
Surviving are two daughters,Mrs. James J. (Bessie) Kelly, city; Mrs. Eugene (Jane) Sullivan, Trenton, N. J., and a brother. John Lasha, Gananoque, Ont.
Mr. LaSha was born at Gananoque, Sept. 2, 1876, son of the late John and Elizabeth Molloy LaSha. He spent his early life in Gananoque and in 1910 came to this city where he was employed for a few years at the J. B. Wise company. He worked as a polisher and buffer.
Mr. LaSha later returned to Ontario making his home at Chaffey's Locks, near Gananoque. He made his living by guiding fisherman on the St. Lawrence. He
lived at Chaffey's Locks until coming to this city two months
ago. In November, 1901, he married Martha Leakey of Gananoque. The marriage later ended in divorce.
Mr. LaSha's son-in-law, Mr. Kelly, is a city policeman.
