Allen Hobaugh was born in Madison Co., Indiana, February 24, 1845, and moved to Carroll county in 1850 with his parents, where he resided until March 1, 1915, then moved to Noble county with his family and departed this life Sept. 30, 1915, aged 70 years, 7 months and 6 days. He was united in marriage to Martha A. Dilts, May 14, 1871. To this union were born eight children, five of which died in infancy, three of whom survive: Mrs. Cora Wert, of Monticello, Marion Hobaugh of LaOtto and Mrs. Emma Fleener of near Reynolds, his wife departing this life in November, 1886. He was united in marriage to Hattie L. Ellis, July 30,
1887. To this union no children were born to bless their home but in their married life they raised two boys, Gifford E. Talbert of Chalmers and Eddie H. Heart of LaOtto, who with his wife and one brother, Cyrenious Hobaugh of Logansport are left to mourn his departure.
He was a member of the Christian church for many years. He had a stroke of paralysis early Tuesday morning from which he never rallied. He departed this life Thursday at one-thirty p. m., and the funeral services were conducted at the house by Rev. Hatfield, Saturday at two-thirty p. m., and interment made in the Swan cemetery.
