LEWIS MAYHEW ALLEN, 82, of Satsuma, left this life for a better one Wednesday, May 28, 2003 in Palatka.

He was born July 14, 1920 in Forest Glen, Wilcox County, Ga.

Mr. Allen retired from the U.S. Navy as a chief petty officer, HMC-E7 with 20 years service. He also retired from Kraft Foods Maxwell House Coffee in Jacksonville with 10 years service.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years: Billie Ruth Pridgen Allen.

Survivors are his daughters: Susan Allen Raulerson and husband, Wayne, Green Cove Springs; granddaughter: Christina Rene (Raulerson) Haynes and husband, Mark; great-granddaughter: Amber Rene Haynes, all of Griffin, Ga.; a brother: Henry Allen, Birmingham, Ala.; a sister: Corrine Bieber, Port Orange.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of the Lakes, 6400 St. Johns Ave., Palatka, FL 32177.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, May 31 at Watts Funeral Home, San Mateo.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Swift Creek/Mt. Zion Cemetery, Lake Butler, with Cecil Entrekin of Fairburn, Ga., and Clay Sidwell of Ellijay, Ga., as officiates.

Watts Funeral Home, San Mateo, is in charge of arrangements.
