Willie is my grandmother. She was 1 of 7 children born to Robert Alonzo Huckaby and Dora Vina Herriage.
She married Walter Lee Swaffar in 1930 and they had 5 children, including my daddy Walter Laverne Swaffar.
She was a homemaker and very rarely missed church. She loved her family unconditionally.

She passed away from injuries received in an automobile accident. Her funeral was held at Trinity Baptist Church in Wills Point, where she was a member. I remember it being standing room only in that church that day. She had touched a lot of lives. I love her and sure do miss her.

THE BROKEN CHAIN

We little knew that morning that
God was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly,
in death we do the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
you did not go alone;
for part of us went with you
the day God called you home.
You left us peaceful memories,
your love is still our guide,
and though we cannot see you,
you are always at our side.
Our family chain is broken,
and nothing seems the same,
but as God calls us one by one,
the chain will link again.
