D.K. Young, one of the best known citizens of Perry township, died
yesterday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Abbie Shirley.

Mr. Young had been in poor health for some time,
his death being caused by a complication of diseases.

He was past 72 years old and had he lived until today, he and Mrs. Young could have
celebrated their golden wedding.

If Mr. Young's health had been in a condition to do so.

He was prominently identified with those things that were for the
betterment of his town and township.

His life was in the full sense of the word a useful one.

He was a member of the M.E. church at Colfax, always being ready
to do his part for the good of the church and community.

He was a member of the I.O.O.F. lodge at Colfax.

A part of Mr. Young's early life was spent as a conductor on railroads,
he being the conductor on the road that brought the body of Lincoln
from Lafayette to Indianapolis.

Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, E.S. Young of Los Angeles,
Cal., who has been at the bedside of his father for some time and one
daughter, Mrs. Abbie Shirley residing near Colfax.

Owing to strict regulations about the recent regulations of the state
board of health about assembling of crowds, the funeral will be strictly
private at the home of Mr. Shirley.

With the passing of Mr. Young, Colfax and vicinity losses a pioneer, a
christian gentleman and a man in all the term implies.
