Mariah was married first to a Mr. Halcomb or Holcomb and second to John B. Wilson. Her name on her grave stone reads Myria, but she is listed as Mariah on the census records and on all family documents.

Mariah was the second child of Byrd and Sarah Horn Kemp. She was born on December 25, 1847. There are conflicting sources that say she was born in Tennessee and in Tishomingo County, Mississippi. A large majority of the sources I have seen state Tennessee as her birth place.

Mariah married John B Wilson on August 5, 1867 in Howard, Pike County, Arkansas. The LDS file shows Mariah Catherine Kemp was evidently married to a Holcomb before she was married to John B Wilson, and that possibly her first child, Nancy Jane Wilson, was actually a child from that relationship. The LDS file shows Nancy's last name as Holcomb. Nancy Jane was born on June 10, 1865 in Mena, Arkansas. She was around two years old when Mariah married John B Wilson.

Nancy Jane married Joseph Mack Winton in 1879. Nancy died June 10. 1928 in Latimer County, Oklahoma. Joseph Mack Winton was the brother of Zollie Coffer Winton, who was married to Nancy's sister, Eliza Jane Wilson.
