Pius "John" Becker, of Hanover, entered into God's eternal care May 4th.

He was the son of the late Carroll J. and Mazie H. (Wentz) Becker, Sr.

John was a 1951 graduate of Eichelberger Senior High School and was a veteran of the United States Army having served in the Korean War, where he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.

He retired from Hanover Wire Cloth after 29 years of service as a machinist in the maintenance department. Prior to his employment with Hanover Wire Cloth he worked at Hanover Dry Kilns for 17 years.

John was an active member of Trinity United Church of Christ where he had served as a Deacon, an Elder, Sunday school teacher, Consistory President, and committee chairman for the Trinity Boy Scouts. He was also a member of I.M.C., the Lancers Drum & Bugle Corp., American Legion Post #14, Hanover Republican Club, and Parkville Fire Company. He had also been involved with the Park Hills Packers football team. John was an avid reader and coin collector. His favorite pass times were fishing and spending time with his family.

John was the devoted and loving husband of Janette B. (Doherty) Becker, whom he married May 6, 1961, and surviving, in addition to her, are five wonderful children, Brenda Snyder and husband, Scott of North East, Susan L. Bates and husband, Clark of Abbottstown, Lori A. Becker Wysocki, John S. Becker and wife, Kathy, all of Hanover, and Annette M. Becker-Powell of Spring Grove; six grandchildren; two great-grandsons; three brothers, Edward Becker and wife, Erma of Abbottstown, Carroll Becker, Jr. and wife, Joyce of Shippensburg and David Becker and wife, Janice of Harrisburg, NC; one uncle, Burnell Wentz, of Hanover; two brothers-in-law, H. Thomas Doherty and Ranney Doherty and wife, Johneen, of Lancaster; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Burial was with full military honors provided by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
