WIMBERLY RITES SET SATURDAY
Funeral Arranged For Man Working On Oil Derrick
Funeral services for A. P. "Red" Wimberly, 45, 211 Seventh Street, Monroe, who was killed while working on an oil derrick four miles south of Oak Ridge Wednesday afternoon, will be held at 2 pm Saturday with Rev. L. C. Waldron, pastor of the Assembly of God Church, officiating.

Wimberly was crushed to death at approximately 3:30 pm Wednesday when a safety rope tied to Wimberly and a steel superstructure became entangles in a hoist and tightened around him. The rope, according to Morehouse Parish Coroner Dr. J. N. Jones, crushed Wimberly's chest and finally snapped, plunging him 80 feet to the floor of the derrick. Wimberly's body was taken to Monroe in a Mulhearn Funeral Home ambulance, but later transferred to Hixson Brothers Funeral Home. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
