Robert "Bob" Bowling, age 84, passed away Saturday, February 5, 2011, at Veterans Hospital, in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born on March 7, 1926, in Manchester, Kentucky, a beloved son of John D. and Daisy Allen Bowling. He was a longtime member of Masonic Lodge 94, in Montgomery, Ohio. For many years, Bob lived in the Dallas, Texas, area, where he embraced the culture of boots, hats, horses and music. He loved sharing his life with his children, grandchildren and family.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by five brothers and five sisters. He is survived by: a sister, Virginia Frieda Bowling Morgan; two daughters, Barbara Bowling (Tom ) Campbell, of Winchester, Kentucky, and Constance Bowling (David) Boepple, of Wesley Chapel, North Carolina; a son, Larry Bowling, of Tucson, Arizona; six grandchildren, Patrick (Kara) Abele, Shannon (Heidi) Boepple, Tiffany (Duane) Gorman, Sierra Boepple, Lisa Jones (John) Howard and Larinda Bowling; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, February 11, at Winchester First United Methodist Church, 204 South Main Street. Bob's family wishes to express sincere gratitude to the staffs of Veterans Hospital and Veterans Affairs Medical Center, on Leestown Road, for the special care and kindness he received while he was a patient. The family requests no flowers. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to: Veterans Hospital, Cooper Drive, Lexington, Kentucky 40509; First United Methodist Church, 204 South Main Street, Winchester, Kentucky 40391; or any Shriners Hospital.
