LaVoy Allen Bowen

LaVoy Allen Bowen passed peacefully away at the age of 91 in Scottsdale, Arizona on April 25, 2023. LaVoy was Born July 5, 1931 at home in Hyrum, Utah. She is the daughter of Ira Leland Allen and Elizabeth Annona Hansen. She was raised and educated in the same town. She married Robert William Bowen on February 10, 1950 in Hyrum, Utah. In 1953, their marriage was sealed in the Logan temple. LaVoy and Bob moved at least 48 times in their marriage. Together they, with their three children Allen, Marlene, and Sydney, lived in Utah, Idaho and California.


LaVoy spent the last 34 years of her life in Arizona near her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Robert preceded her in death on January 21, 1995. LaVoy married Albin Joseph Valich on July 22, 1998. Al preceded her in death on December 26, 2008. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various positions. Her favorite calling was serving with her dear friend, Clydean Roskelley, in the Cub Scout organization. LaVoy loved to participate in all family activities! She enjoyed boating and swimming at the Hyrum dam, picnicking in the Blacksmith Fork Canyon, hunting, fishing and vacations. LaVoy is loved by all who know her. She is known for her yummy homemade chocolates and her beautiful handwork. She had a giving heart and was always willing to join in the fun and help out. She served many of us.


She is survived by her two children: Marlene Barnett of Peoria Arizona, Sydney Knight (Kevin) of Scottsdale Arizona, her 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, her sister, Linda Atkinson of Hyrum, Utah, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son Allen Robert Bowen and her two brothers, Ira Ray and Clyde Allen.


Funeral services will be held Monday, May 8, 2023 at 11:30 AM at the Hyrum Stake Center chapel located at 595 South 200 East, Hyrum, Utah. Arrangements by Allen-Hall Mortuary.


The family would like to thank the Vi at Silverstone in Scottsdale, Arizona and Hospice of the Valley (Sandy) for all the wonderful care for LaVoy in her later life.
