Alice Marie Beussman was born September 13, 1911 in Leavenworth Township, the daughter of Adolph and Marie (Fierer) Altermatt. She lived most of her life in the Springfield area and attended school at the Church of Japanese Martyrs. On February 21, 1934, Alice was united in marriage to Emil Beussman at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Springfield. The couple farmed in Redwood County until retirement. Shortly after Emil's death, Alice moved into Springfield. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and the W.E.L.C.A.. Alice enjoyed farming, growing flowers, fishing, dancing and playing cards. Alice Marie Beussman died Wednesday, February 2, 2005 at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield at the age of 93 years. She is survived by son- Gene and wife Lori Beussman of Madison Lake, MN; granddaughter- Amy Jo and husband Tom Sandmeyer of St. James, MN; great granddaughter- Taylor Rose Sandmeyer of St. James, MN; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband- Emil in 1984; brother- Sylvester; and sisters- Myrtle Turbes and Vi Youngerberg.
