The native of Screven County was a retired police officer.
SURVIVORS: his wife, Sheila Sloan Ash of Augusta; a daughter, Jennifer V. Ash of Newington; a stepdaughter, Jennifer McElmurray of Martinez; a son, Gerald B. Ash Jr. of Oliver; two sisters, Jane A. Young of Oliver and Donna A. Suter of Chattanooga, Tenn.; and a stepsister, Janice Dugger of Newington.
GRAVESIDE SERVICE: 11 a.m. Saturday in Little Ogeechee Baptist Church Cemetery.
