Mrs. August (Kate) Bredemeier, 80, a former Islander, died Sunday in a Carmichael, Calif., hospital. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday in St. Mary's Cathedral with a requiem mass. Burial will be in Grand Island cemetery. (Further funeral arrangements omitted here)

Mrs. Bredemeier was born Jan. 24, 1886, in Grand Island to Mr. and Mrs. Julius Stauss Sr. She was married to August Bredemeier on Nov. 17, 1909, in Grand Island. They lived here until 1959 when they went to Carmichael. While here, she was a member of the parish at St. Mary's Cathedral.

She is survived by her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Cynthia Mayer of Carmichael; two brothers, Frank and Michael Stauss of Grand Island; and a grandson Richard Mayer of Carmichael. She was preceded in death by a son, Sgt. Bert Bredemeier, who was one of the first Islanders to be killed in action in World War II; three brothers, George, Julius and Winibald Stauss; and a sister, Mrs. Mary Boehl
