Elsa Nagel White, 84, died July 29, 1995, from a lengthy illness at Providence Alaska Medical Center. Visitation was at First Assembly of God, 15th Avenue and C Street. Services were held at First Assembly of God with the Rev. Jim Brenn officiating. Pallbearers were George Harkness, Lloyd Samsal, Jack Maddux, Dave Ropp, Ron Cone and Tom Moore. Interment followed at Angelus Memorial Park.
Mrs. White was born April 20, 1911, in Ada, Saskatchewan, Canada. She attained a nursing degree at Regina General Hospital. She did private nursing in Canada for six years before moving to Montana to continue her career. In 1942, she traveled via Alaska Steamship Lines to Alaska, working a year at Seward Hospital, several years as a surgical nurse at Providence Hospital, and later at Anchorage Medical and Surgical Clinic. In 1959, she obtained a bachelor of science degree and worked as a school nurse for the Anchorage School District. In 1980, she married Ben White and enjoyed a life of travel and companionship. Mrs. White was a member of First Assembly Church of God for 37 years. She spent her life caring for others, her family said. She loved to travel, had a beautiful sense of humor, and had many caring friends and relatives, they said.
She is survived by her husband, Ben of Anchorage; brother-in-law, Gordon of Portland; sisters, Mrs. Art Hofer, Swift Current, Saskatchewan, Canada, Emelia Shunamon of Drayton Valley, Alberta, Canada, Rosa Walker, Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, Herminia Cole, Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, Martha Baillie, Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Linda Hannah of Frobisher Bay, Northwest Territories, Canada, and Lydia Rodgers of Anchorage; and brothers, Ernest Nagel, Rockglen, Saskatchewan, and Martin Nagel, Assiniboia, Saskatchewan; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Arrangements were handled by Kehl's Forest Lawn Mortuary and Crematory.
