1907: Woodbine Twiner: 29 March 1907: C.L. GUINN MEETS DEATH: Thrown Against Tree in Runaway Sunday, Neck Broken and Dies Instantly: Last Sunday while C.L. Guinn, wife and daughter, were driving to our city his team of bronches became unmanagable and rushed down a steep hill, at the foot of which was a sharp turn, here the buggy was over-turned and Guinn was thrown with such force against a tree that his skull was crushed and his neck broken, killing him instantly. All were thrown from the buggy, Mrs. Guinn being slightly hurt and the daughter escaped unharmed. Deceased was 43 years of age and has always been a hard working farmer, but ill luck seems to have been with him, and success in this world's goods has not been his fate, seemingly from no fault of his. He leaves a wife and adopted daughter, three sisters and a brother to mourn his loss. Neighbors and friends deeply sympathize with the wife in this her hour of deep trouble, and are doing all that is possible to comfort and help her. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon from the L.D.S. church, Elder Chas. Derry in charge of the service, A large procession of neighbors and friends followed the remains to the church. Burial in the Woodbine cemetery.
