OBITUARY - A. L. Bear
Abraham Lincoln Bear, son of Samuel and Mary Ripley Bear, was born Nov. 6, 1860 near Plano, Appanoose county, Ia., and departed this life Thursday morning, May 29, 1930, at the Iowa State University hospital, Iowa City, Iowa. Deceased was in his 70th year.
He was united in marriage to Sarah Jane Carver, Dec. 25, 1892, who departed this life July 21, 1921. To this union four children were born, Dorothy M. Moser, of Plano, Ia., Nina B. (sic-Pricilla) Bear of Las Vegas, New Mexico, and two children who died in infancy.
Those who are left to mourn his departure are his two daughters, four granddaughters, Irene, Ruth, Audrey and Marjorie Moser, brothers and sisters, Samuel R. Bear, Geo. B. Bear, Catherine E. Lyon of Plano, Ia., Adessa Wilson of Centerville, Iowa, Mary Agnes Day of Republic county, Kansas, and Ida Awalt of Mystic, Iowa, who preceded him in death, besides a host of other relatives and friends.
He was an honest, upright, respected and well known citizen, esteemed by all who knew him.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon, May 31 at 2:00 o'clock from the Cross Road church, the Rev. Nesbit of Seymour officiating. Interment at the Cross Road Cemetery.
