World War I Vet Dies
Garland Armstrong, 68, of 2282 Wallace avenue, died at 3:45 o'clock Tuesday afternoon in Indianapolis. He had been in ill health six years and a patient at the hospital since Sunday.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Zora Armstrong; a son, Claude Armstrong of Columbus; and two half-brothers, Albert and Ona Dillinger. A son preceded him in death. Four grandchildren also survive.
Mr. Armstrong, Janitor at Dalton and Payne store here, was born Jan. 5, 1891 to Charles and Eva Hagerman Armstrong. He was a veteran of the first world war and served overseas 16 months. Mr. Armstrong was a member of the Wesleyan Methodist church and Disabled American Veterans.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 o'clock Friday morning at Barkes and Inlow funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Paul Mills and the Rev. Garnet Jewell. Burial will be made at Bethel cemetery. Casket will be open at the funeral home after 7 o'clock tonight.
