Edward C. Fassinger

Of Mt. Lebanon, age 90, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012, surrounded by family. Beloved Husband of 64 years to Virginia Lea (Schweinsberg); Devoted and Loving Father to Sandra Lea (Woolaghan) and the late Dennis C. "Denny" Fassinger; Adoring Grandfather to Valerie, Matthew and the late Michael. He was the son of the late Albert and Mary Josephine Fassinger. He was the third oldest of four children; his sisters Katherine (Sager), Evelyn (Naiva), and a brother, John, preceded him in death. He was a decorated veteran of World War II and proudly served his country, having fought at the Battle of the Bulge as a member of the Army Air Corps. After returning from the war, he was employed by Mac & Mac Homebuilders of the South Hills. His love and passion for engineering continued, as he was partners in land and commercial property development throughout his career. Edward, known as "Big Ed", was a gentle giant whose big hands, big heart, and sense of humor continued to touch peoples lives to the very end. Edward was a very generous person who came from humble beginnings and built a successful life and home on a very strong foundation. He devoted his whole life to his family and friends…always giving and doing for others. His voice will be missed, whether he talked to you in person or over the phone. His stories and advice will carry on…in the memories of all those he touched. "If the ocean was a sea of ink and the sky a piece of paper, that still wouldn't be enough to write, how much you are loved and missed." Funeral arrangements by BEINHAUERS. Friends are welcome at 2828 Washington Rd., McMurray (724-941-3211) on Thursday from 1-4 & 6-9 p.m. A Service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. in Faith Lutheran Church.
