Bernadine Charlene Linnstaedter Cooper, of Fredericksburg, passed away Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016 at the age of 86, at Knopp Nursing Home.
Bernadine was born March 2, 1929, in Denhawken, Texas to Benjamin Franklin and Erna Steenken Linnstaedter. She graduated from Stockdale High School in Stockdale in 1946 and then went on to attend Southwest State Teachers College and A&I College.
Bernadine received her Bachelor of Science degree from Southwest State Teachers College in 1951. She had a rewarding, 35-year career teaching school in Texas at San Benito ISD, Waelder ISD, Smiley ISD, Fredericksburg ISD, and South San Antonio ISD.
Bernadine married Buford Grady Purser on Feb. 5, 1949. He died Nov. 16, 1968. She married Clifton Ray Apple Sr. Dec. 10, 1970. He died Dec. 20, 2005. Although Bernadine said she was finished with love and marriage, she met and fell in love again and married James D. Cooper on Oct. 28, 2006.
Memorial Services were held at First Baptist Church in Fredericksburg, Texas. There will be a distribution of Bernadine's ashes at a later date.
