From Obituary: Clifford Bergmeier, 90, died Sunday, April 25, 2004, at Clay County Medical Center. Mr. Bergmeier was born Sept. 13, 1913, at Clay County, the son of William and Ruth (Arnold) Bergmeier. He attended Golden Ridge Country School and Wakefield Rural High School. He took over the family farm near Wakefield in 1934. He married Evelyn Luthi June 16, 1936. He retired from farming and they moved to Wakefield in 1989. He was a member of the Federal Land Bank Board from 1939 to 1989, serving as chairman for 20 years. He was a Production Credit Association member from 1956 to 1986. He was also a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Clay Center. Evelyn preceded him in death Aug. 20, 2001. He was also preceded by one brother and one sister. Survivors include one daughter, Barbara and husband Larry Vincent of Portage, Mich.; one granddaughter; and three great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Wakefield Chapel in Wakefield with the Rev. Richard Bruenger officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Wakefield Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Republican Valley Farm Museum.
