He was born in Bulloch County and lived in Chatham County most of his life and was a member of Waters Avenue Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army Korean conflict veteran.
Surviving are his wife, Mary A. Akins of Savannah; a daughter, Cynthia Marquez of Carlsbad, N.M.; four stepdaughters, Brenda Crocker of Rincon, Kay Sapp of Pooler, Terri Hughes and Laura Ferrell, both of Savannah; a stepson, Ronnie Williams of Savannah; two sisters, Birdie White of Nevils and Vivian Saxon of Blichton; eight grandchildren, a number of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral: 2 p.m. Friday at Fountain Funeral Home in Port Wentworth, burial in Red Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, U.S. Highway 46, Bulloch, County.
