BOISE - Leona Mae Gurley Ellis, 82, of Boise, formerly of Soda Springs, passed away Sunday, November 19, 2000, at a Boise hospital. She was born June 23, 1918, at Montpelier, Idaho, the daughter of Charles and LaVerna Gurley. She had also lived in southern California and in Boise for many years.
She married John William Ellis April 6, 1937, at Paris, Idaho. Mr. Ellis passed away September 16, 1985.
She was a member of the Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved playing bingo and going to ice cream socials with her grandchildren.
She is survived by a son and a daughter, Blaine William Ellis, Boise, Idaho, and Barbara Ann and John Leigh, California; also seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; one brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Eva Gurley, Saratoga, California, and Margaret Gurley, Arcadia. Calif. She was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Timothy John (T.J.), and two brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, November 22, at 11 a.m. at the Soda Springs Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Helen Young officiating. Friends may call on Wednesday at the Sims Funeral Home from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to leaving for the church. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery.
