The Lawson Review, Lawson, Ray county, Missouri

Miss Lula Wharton was born May 20, 1876 at Lawson, being one of a family of eight children of S.D. Wharton. She graduated at Lawson College, June 1886, and was married to Rev. J. E. Flow on December 27, 1905. A child of the covenant, raised in the tenets of Presbyterianism, she possessed the Christian character that endeared her to many friends hwerever she was known. For more than ten years she was a devoted pastor's wife, eminently fitted, and faithfully and efficiently meeting all the requirements of the place she occupied; entering heartily into the work with her husband. She fell asleep in Jesus in the Manse at Maritta, Oklahoma, January 30th 1916, in the fortieth year of age. Very suddenley and almost without warning, with neuralgia of the heart. Besides he husband she leaves one daughter, Alma Ruth eight years, and one son, Reed Hll five years old. She was laid to rest in the family burying grounds at Lawson, February 1. Members and friends of the church of Marieta will feel that there is a link all golden missing. The writer will long remember the devoted husband standing by the casket looking on the lifeless form and saying: "I would rather go with God in the darkness than go alone in the light. I would rather walk with God by faith than walk alone by sight." F.M.C.
