James Emmett Byrd , 71 , of Route # 2, died early Thursday morning at the local Memorial hospital after a short illness.

James is survived by his wife, the former Miss Mary Viola Norton of Waycross
a son Gnardy Emmett Byrd of Waycross
a daughter Mrs. W.J. Broome of Waycross
(two sisters:)
Mrs. E.P. Carter
Mrs. W.O. Youmans .. both of Waycross
(three brothers:)
J.R. Roddenberry
Dred Byrd .. both of Bristol, Ga.
Leonard E. Byrd of Waycross
four grandchildren

Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Trinity Methodist Church with the pastor Rev. John N. Shell following burial into Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

The body will lie in state at Mincy's Chapel until Saturday afternoon when it will be carried to the residence where it will remain until time for the funeral services.
