DIED. Metzel.-- In Upper Ruby Valley, on Monday, January 26th, 1880, Clara May, only daughter of Mr. Alex. Metzel, aged 8 years, 7 months, and 1 day.
We are pained to hear of the loss which Mr. Alex. Metzel has sustained in the death of his only daughter, Clara May, who departed this life last Monday morning, after a short, but severe illness. She was a bright little girl, and the pet of the household, which is deeply grief-stricken at her death. She was buried at the Nevada cemetery on Tuesday. The cause of death was dropsy of the heart.
~~
Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Metzel were pioneer citizens of Montana Territory, settling at Nevada City in 1864. In 1872 they began a ranch operation at Puller Springs in the Upper Ruby Valley, south of Alder, Montana.
