He married the adopted daughter of Mr. Fifield, Emma Frisbie Fifield on September 28, 1968 and on January 1, 1870, he purchased a half interest in his employer's business. The firm of Fifield and Dorrance continued until 1882, when Mr. Dorrance became the sole proprietor of the business. In 1896 Mr. Dorrance took his son, Frank F. Dorrance, into partnership with him and they have conducted the business together since.
Mr. Dorrance Is survived by two sons, Frank F. and John P. Dorrance, the latter who, with his wife has been spending the winter in California and was called home by his father's death, and one daughter, Miss Bertha C. Dorrance, who, since the death of her mother a few years ago, assumed the responsibilities of the home and has done everything to make it pleasant for her father.
Mr. Dorrance had two younger daughters who died several years ago. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Dorothy, William H., Jr., George and Alice, children of his son, Frank F. Dorrance. There are also two brothers, John G. Dorrance and Daniel G. Dorrance, Jr., of Camden.
