May 13, 1910, The Times Shedd, Oregon:
John Morgan died at his home near Shedd, Oregon. He moved to Iowa when a small boy, remaining there until 1847, when he crossed the plains to Oregon by ox team, remaining in Oregon City until the spring of 1848. He went to California, but on account of ill health returned to Oregon the same year. He served as volunteer during the Indian Wars of 1855 and 1856. He married Prudence T. Savage on 8 October 1855, and there were 12 chldren born into this union, eight survive him. Survived by his wife; children - George, Marion, Perry, Mrs. L.A. Jones, Owen, Norris, Leighton, Hurley Morgan; one brother.
