Mrs. Teresa Mae Mercer Cox Hiers, 51, died Monday (May 23, 2005) at her residence after a short illness.

She was a native of Ware County but had resided in Englewood, FL for the past 10 years. She was preceded in death by her father, Alvin Noah Mercer. She was a disabled surgical technician.

The survivors include a daughter, Anna Alexander (husband Jeff) of Warner Robins; a son, Dewayne Hiers of Marietta; two grandchildren, Brian Alexander and Brandon Alexander both of Warner Robins; her mother, Edna Bowen Mercer Dubberly Dyal of Blackshear; two sisters, Elizabeth Cason of Blackshear and Emma Jean Mercer of Waycross; a brother, Alvin Mercer of Waycross; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held 7:00 p.m. Wednesday (May 25, 2005) at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Wednesday night from 6 until 7 o'clock.

Memorialization will be by cremation.
