Peggy Irene Schaefer Henson King passed away quietly on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at the age of 89. The mother of six children, she was a Real Estate Broker for over 20-years in the Fort Worth area. She was a "master supervisor" and loved nothing more than to be renovating a house or landscape project.


Member of Daughters of the Republic of Texas; Daughters of the American Revolution, and Past-president Purple Heart Auxiliary.


She was born in Fort Worth, Texas, to Albert George Schaefer, II and Mary Elizabeth (Elsie) Formby. Peggy married at a very young age, 14, and only attended a few months of the 7th grade at Chapel Creek in Brownwood, Texas. Her first husband, Hiram Henry (Buddy) Henson married October 2, 1948, at Brady Avenue Baptist Church in Brownwood, Texas . The couple were married 21-years and parented six children:

She married a second time to Otis H (Karl) King a former radio news broadcaster. The couple were together 35-years before his passing.


Peggy was preceded in death by her parents: Albert G Schaefer and Mary Elsie Johnson; first husband Henry Henson; second husband Karl King; first grandchild Michael Peters, and her four siblings: Juanita Nicks, Alberta King, Albert Schaefer III, and Clifford Schaefer. She is survived by her six children and their families: Rebecca (HD) Peters; Hiram Henson; Vivian (Doyle) Culp; John (Lisa) Henson; Henrietta (Nevitt) Hargett, and Marshall Henson. Grandchildren: Mildred Turney; Becca Stites; Clayton Culp; Brandi Henson; Heather Garza; Rebecca Hays; Kathleen Culp; John Henry Henson; Casey Rae Almulawi; Madelyn Curtis, and Layton Henson. Great-grandchildren: Collin Turney; Taylor Jennings; JD Blankenship; Abigail Turney; Chase Jackson; Hunter Jackson; Adrian Henson; John Gabriel Henson; Brayden Jackson; Matthew Henson-Almulawi; Ryan Garza; Sophia Henson, and Zaid Almulawi. One great-great-grandson Parker Jennings.
