Kathryn Jean Deatherage Deuser, 66, of Gaithersburg, died Monday evening, October 3, 2016.
She was born to the late Joe and Omagene Deatherage, Nov. 28, 1949, in Oklahoma City, OK. As a youth, she attained the highest rank of Campfire Girls. Kathryn graduated from Baylor University in 1972 with a Bachelor of Nursing Degree and later received a Masters of Nursing from University of Arizona in 1985. She married Mark Deuser in 1985, and they lived together in Tucson, AZ, before relocating to Gaithersburg in 1986.
Kathryn was an Intensive Care Nurse and later became an Oncology Nurse. In Gaithersburg, she was a manager for a home health company. Just prior to retiring in 2009, she taught nursing at Montgomery College.
Kathryn was an active member of Pathways Baptist Church where she was a Deacon, children's choir teacher and Sunday School teacher. She was co-founder of Amazing Grace Orphans and Widows Care Center in Kenya. She loved to read, be with friends, sail and travel.
Kathryn is survived by her son, Jordan Deuser, and her husband, Mark Deuser of Gaithersburg, MD; her brother, Joe Charles Deatherage and wife Janet Neilson of The Woodlands, TX; and her sister, Janet Sue Garland of Johnson City, TN.
A Memorial Service was held at Pathways Baptist Church in Gaithersburg, on Saturday October 8, 2016.
