Josephine May Benfer Evans Couser Fulton was the daughter to Ernest Arthur Benfer and Mary Sofia Fehrmann. She was the twin sister of Joseph William Benfer.
Josepnine Benfer was first married to Jack Evans on March 9, 1940 in San Antonio, Texas.
Her second husband was Carl Jackson Couser, married in San Antonio, Texas on November 24, 1943. C.J. Couser died in November of 1964.
Josephine married for a third time to Berwyn H. Fulton in Ector County, Texas on July 29, 1971.
Josephine came to Odessa from San Antonio, Texas in 1952 with her husband, Carl J. Couser, who preceded her in death. She worked in retail for many years. While a loving mother to her own children, she was like a surrogate mother to many others as well. After retirement, she stayed active volunteering with the hospital auxiliary, having served as president, newsletter editor, and as an advisory board member. Mrs. Fulton was also a member of the Alpha Tau Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa Sorority.
