Joan R. Adaskin died in Dedham, Massachusetts on Monday, September 17, 2012 at the age of 84. Joan was born on May 10, 1928 in Fall River, Massachusetts to Edward and Ethel Laurans Adaskin.


She had 2 sisters, Judith A. Barry of South Dartmouth, Massachusetts and Janet A. Walder, who passed away on June 27, 2012, in St. Petersburg, Florida.


Joan earned degrees from Case Western Reserve, Boston University and Brown University. She was a cherished high school and college math teacher and spent the majority of her teaching career at Coronado High School and Mesa College in Southern California.


Joan was a resident of San Diego, California for 50 years. She was an active volunteer and contributed her time to Sharp Hospital, Junior Golf and the San Diego Amateur Golf League. She was a member of the ladies club at Torrey Pines and Balboa Golf Clubs. She was a Padres season ticket holder for over 30 years and an avid fan of the San Diego State baseball team. She was a longtime supporter of the San Diego Zoo. She was a life member of the Brandeis Women's Committee.


Joan is survived by one sister, her nieces, nephew, grand-nieces and grand-nephews and many friends. She will be remembered as a generous and unique person.
