Ira Bell Childs (53)was the first of seven children (Ira Bell, Isaac Elijah "Lidge", Luella Mildred, Joseph R. , Guy Truman, Clifford E. Florence V. ) born to Joseph Childs and Blanche "Tina" Clementine Peckenpaugh. His profession was that of a Pharmacist in Burt, Iowa and later after he and his bride moved to Globe, AZ where he purchased a ranch and a Tinsmith for a tin mine close by . The move was prompted by Ira's allergies.

On March 16, 1905 in Guthrie, Iowa, Ira married Estella M. Gebhardt, daughter of Bernard Griswald Gebhardt (1849 - 1894)and Sarah L. Robinson Gebhardt (1852 - 1926)of Iowa. Estella died at the age of 49. No children.

Ira invited Audrey, the only daughter of his brother, Clifford Ernest Childs, to go to attend school in Arizona. So she left Wyoming and finished her schooling in Arizona where she became a druggist. After graduation, her father came to get her to come back and live in Wyoming, however, by then Audrey had fallen in love and wanted to marry Burt Myers and stayed in Arizona.

Being Ira had no children of his own, Audrey Childs inherited the ranch of Ira Childs, which she and her husband operated until his death.

Ira's mother "Tina" Blance Clementina Peckenpaugh, also stayed with him before she died in Nov. 23, 1922.

He took his greatest pride in boy work, spending a great amount of time with DeMolays and Boy Scots. He was particularly interested in degree work, going to Tucson twice a year to assist in ceremonies staged there.
