Census records indicate that George Washington Boss was born in Mississippi, but that is highly unlikely. There are no other indications that the Boss family resided in Mississippi. He was the son of Samuel Scott Boss and Elizabeth Candle, and was probably born in either Arkansas or Texas.

I was told that George was married 9 times. To date, I have found records or evidence for 6 of those marriages.

Marriage number 1 was to unknown about 1875. There was a child from this marriage - G. Eugenia Boss who married S. W. Dickerson.

Marriage number 2 was to Nancy A Reynolds Dec 31, 1878 in Lamar Co, Tx. There were 9 known children from this marriage.

Marriage number 3 was after the death of Nancy to Fannie Holmark on Feb 3, 1906 in Hopkins Co, Tx. They had one child, Doil Lee Boss. George and Fannie divorced in Sep 1908. Fannie took Doil and returned home to Arkansas.

Marriage number 4 was to Mrs. Eliza J. Kinslow nee Craig on Oct 31, 1909 in Red River Co, Tx. No children from this marriage which ended in divorce Oct 1913.

Marriage number 5 was to Mrs. Elizabeth Hubbs on Dec 7, 1914 in Choctaw Co, Oklahoma. They divorced Jul 1918.

Marriage number 6 was to Nicy Jayne Payne on Sep 5, 1921 in Franklin Co, Tx. Nicy happened to be the mother-in-law of George's sons Marley and Willie. Nothing like keeping it all in the family. Nicy and George divorced Dec 1933.

Marriage number 7 was to Cynthia/Sintha J Kenemore on Mar 16, 1934 in Camp Co, Tx. Cynthia was the sister of George's son-in-law Tom Kenemore. Cynthia and George were separated at the time of his death on Dec 20, 1936.

That leaves potentially three marriages that I have been unable to find - although marriage number one in about 1875 is pretty sure of, just haven't found a marriage record.

I guess George liked being married, but it appears that the women he chose didn't like being married to him for the most part.
