Husband of Fanny Peck, who he married April 30, 1914, and father of Mary Caroline Macklin Hoag, he lived 71 years. His parents were Robert Macklin and Jennie Brown.

"Fred Macklin 1873-1944, was a farmer, investor, and speculator. He lived in Bacon Hill, Northumberland, NY. In 1914 he married Fanny Peck, 1874-1945, of a highly successful farming family on some of the best farms of Northumberland. He was thrifty, shrewd, sober and industrious. He was reputed to have been worth $130,000 at the time of his death."

Fred and Fanny lived in the home of her parents, Reed and Caroline (Dodd) Peck, in Bacon Hill. Corner of NY Route 32 and Grange Hall Road. It has a historical marker for Capt. Burke. Fred worked for some time in the paper mill , retired and then had a sheep business on family land nearby. Writer's mother, Mary Caroline Macklin, recounted the sheep heading down the road on their own, when it was time to change fields. Fanny Peck Macklin ran an antiques business in their home for a time in the 1930's. Many beautiful antiques were auctioned when the home was sold in 1995, by Mary's children.
Writer is Fred's Granddaughter.
