Service for Gordon Douglas Fritsch Sr., a lifetime Spokane area resident, is scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday at Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home.


Mr. Fritsch, 71, died Sunday.


He graduated from Edwall (Wash.) High School in 1940 and attended the University of Idaho. He farmed at Edwall until 1965 and graduated from Eastern Washington University in 1968.


He then worked for the state Department of Social and Health Services at Lakeland Village, Ephrata, Walla Walla and Spokane. He retired in 1983.


Mr. Fritsch was a member of Cheney Church of the Nazarene, where he was also a board member. He was a ham radio operator (WC7C) and was a member of the Repeaters Club.


He was also a member of the Grange and the Food and Friends Club senior citizens group.


Survivors include four sons, Ronald J. Fritsch of Spokane; Gordon Douglas Fritsch Jr. of Ephrata, Wash., Theodore Charles Fritsch of Dunedin, New Zealand, and Stephen A. Fritsch of Edwall; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
