On headstone "NATIVE OF BADEN-BADEN GERMANY". Married Cecelia Bargatze native of Switzerland.
This researcher has his middle name as William. Another researcher shows it as Friedrich.
A girl named Pauline Bauman is also buried here. Her relationship is unknown.
Born: Feb 8,1879- died 1879
She was buried in this location Nov 2, 1884.
Several children were relocated to this plot about the same time. She was one of them.
This researcher originally listed her as John and Cecelia's child. After further studying the info I have changed my view on that. They already had a daughter by the name of Pauline. She was born previously and was doing fine.
See Find a Grave entry # 26418042 for more info on Pauline.
The list is now complete on all their children on Find A Grave.

1900 census - Davidson Co., TN shows his wife had given birth to 10 children and 6 were living.

Chapter 2: Germantown in the News
1906 (Page 89) [Actually died in 1904]
Mr. John Bauman Passes Away at Home on Third Avenue
After a long and useful career, Mr. John Bauman, a well-known and highly respected resident of this city passed away at 5:10 o’clock this morning at his home, 1218 Third Avenue, North. The deceased was 75 years of age. Funeral services will be held from the residence Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock, and the following friends of the family have been asked to serve as pallbearers: George Roesch, B. Dorgan, Pete Stumb, Sr., Chas. Mitchell, Sr., W. J. Varley, Henry Schardt, David Clauberg and R. J. Haenggi. The remains will be placed in a vault at Mt. Olivet.
Mr. Bauman had resided in Nashville for over fifty years, and had a wide circle of friends who will sincerely regret to hear of his death. During his whole life he was a devout Catholic, and was always ready to help his church and faith in every way.
The deceased had not been engaged in active business for many years at the time of his death. He was formerly a tailor here, and had a wide patronage. However, he was assailed by blindness about twenty-five years ago and was compelled to give up his work. Since then he had naturally been retired, but he always maintained the firm loyalty of the many friends he had made.
Mr. Bauman is survived by his wife and five children, all of whom are well-known and prominently connected in this city. Mr. Lawrence A. Bauman, his son, is a member of the firm of Varley & Bauman. His other sons are: John W. Bauman, Sims Bauman and Henry Bauman. He leaves one daughter, Mrs. Emma Bond (Vaughn). The family received many expressions of sympathy in their bereavement.
