J. Phil Baker, 83 of Newark passed away on February 5, 2024 at St. Ann's Hospital. He was born on February 18, 1940 in Newark, OH to the late Robert Andrew and Olive Elizabeth (Caldwell) Baker.

 Phil served honorably in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He retired from Abbott/Ross Labs and was a member of the Newark Maennerchor. He was a social butterfly and enjoyed being with his family and friends.

 He is survived by his daughters, Becky (Rob) Irvin and Kim Helsel; grandchildren, Adena Graham and Kyle (Courtney) Pugsley; sisters, Linda Martin and Sharon Becker; sister-in-law, Mary Kay Yaus; brother-in-law, Harry Graul; and many nieces and nephews.

 In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Sue Ann (Dozer) Baker; sister, Marilyn Graul; sister-in-law, Sharon (Larry) Dozer; brothers-in-law, Dave Martin, John Becker, Larry Yaus and David Arthur Dozer(infant).

 A memorial service will be held at 4pm on Monday, February 12, 2024 at Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark with Pastor Kelly Rammell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
