Mrs. Margaret Boorey, of Pasadena, Calif., H. A. Swim, of Stillwater, Okla., and George F. Gibson, of Lyons, came to Americus today to attend the funeral of Mrs. Margaret Barrett, whose body arrived from Pasadena., Calif., this afternoon.

DEATH OF MRS. BARRETT.

Margaret, the youngest daughter of Andrew and Anne Creighton Ramsey, was born at Mercer, Penn., Feb. 9th, 1831, and died at Pasadena, Cal., August 11th, 1915, at the age of 84 years, 6 monhs, and two days, and was the last of a family of 10 children.

She moved to Kansas in 1885, and made her home here most of the time since.

She made a profession of her faith in early girlhood, was a charter member of the Americus United Presbyterian Church, and was a faithful and devoted member of that organization while she had her home here. She leaves 2 daughters, 3 sons, 23 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, besides a number of more distant relatives and many friends.

The sons are W. W. Swim of this place, Bert Swim of Orlando, Okl., and Edward Barrett of near Kelso, Kans. The daughters are Mrs. Lillie Boorey of Pasadena, Cal., at whose place she was making her home, and Mrs. J. L. Butler of this city.

Nearly all her long life was spent in this city or immediate vicinity where the noble traits of her character was best known. The old settlers who know her best will tender sincere sympathies to the many bereaved relatives.

The body arrived Tuesday evening on the 5:30 train and the funeral was held at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. L. Butler, on Wednesday, Aug. 18, at one o'clock, and the services were conducted by Rev. C. H. Mitchell of the United Presbyterian church and the remains were laid to rest in the Americus cemetery. The relatives from Emporia and Dunlap were nearly all able to attend the services.

Funeral of Mrs. Margaret Barrett.

The funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Barrett were held at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. L. Butler, in Americus, Wednesday afternoon, at 1 o'clock. Rev. C. H. Mitchell, pastor of the Americus United Presbyterian Church, assisted by Rev. A. Morton, of the Methodist Episcopal church, conducted the services. Mr. Mitchell read the ninety-first psalm, which was a favorite with the dead woman, and based his remarks on that Psalm. Mrs. E. A. Elliott and C. J. Prenninger sang two duets selected from the Psalms. The pall-bearers, who were elected from the grandsons, were E. M. Bell, C. B. Weaver, J. A. Woodmansee, Will Daharsh, George F. Gibson, Carl D. Gibson.

The relatives from a distance who attended the funeral were Miss (sic) Margaret Boorey, of Pasadena, Calif.; H. A. Swim, Stillwater, Okla.; Edward Barrett and Mr. Martin, Kelso, Kan.; George F. Gibson, Lyons; Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Bell and sons, of Emporia; Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Weaver and daughter, Dr. and Mrs. J. A. Woodmansee, of Dunlap.
