Wilmer D. (Bill) Mack, age 79 of Maybee, passed away at 5:25 AM, Thursday, November 13, 2008 at Fountainview of Monroe following a lengthy illness. He was born in London Township, Michigan March 12, 1929 to Edward and Loretta (Baum) Mack. He married Betty M. Stoll on May 18, 1957 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Monroe. They celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 2007. He was a lifetime resident of London Township where he also farmed.He always had a big garden after retiring but gave most of the produce to his friends and family. He was also employed at Tecumseh Products Company in Tecumseh for 44 years, retiring in 1991. He was a lifetime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Maybee where he was baptized, celebrated his First Communion and was confirmed. He graduated from Dundee High School in 1946 and served in the United States Army December 12, 1950 until November 26, 1952. He is also a member of the Maybee VFW Post 4361 and enjoyed playing euchre. . Bill's survivors include his wife Betty; two sons: Timothy Mack of Monroe and Sgt. Maj. Thomas (Lana Tieszen) Mack, Army Special Forces of Clarksville, Tennessee: two daughters: Ann (Scott) Fleszar of Chelsea, Michigan and Denise (Scott) McConkey of Clawson, Michigan: four grandchildren: Natalie Mack, Brady Fleszar, Allison Fleszar and Nolan Fleszar. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Elva Waltz. Friends may call on Sunday from 1 – 8 PM at the Bacarella Funeral Home in Monroe. He will lie in state on Monday, November 17, 2008 from 9:00 AM until a 10:00 AM Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Maybee. Officiating will be Rev. Fr. Richard Luberti. Interment will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle, where the VFW Post 4361 will conduct military honors. There will be a Rosary Prayer Service at 3:00 PM Sunday in the funeral home. The family would like to thank the staff at Fountainview and also Heartland Hospice for all their care given to Bill. Memorials in his memory may be made to the Heartland Hospice, 3840 Packard Rd.Suite 260 Ann Arbor, Michigan 48108 or to the Parkinsons Association 30400 Telegraph Road, Bingham Farms, Michigan 48205.
