She married Newton V. Nix in 1941, who preceded her in death in 1972.
They owned and operated Newt's Newstand on Tucumcari Blvd, then Route 66. They also owned and operated Newt's Household Appliances on Main Street in Tucumcari, NM.
She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Tucumcari, NM, joining in 1932. She moved to Tucson, AZ, in 2003 to make her home with her grandchildren.
Surviving Juanita is her brother, James Newby of Texas; and her sister, Louella Fitzner of Colorado; grandchildren: Nelda Chimienti, Beverly Lein, Ed Nagy and Karen Henley all of Arizona.
