Mr. Casey W. Carpenter, 75, transitioned peacefully out of his Earthly body to his Heavenly home on October 21, 2023.


Casey, affectionately known as "Fat", or "Fat Poppa", resided at 1348 Pleasant Street in Winston-Salem for 30 years.


He was born to Helen M. Robinson and Casey Jones on July 28, 1948. He attended WSFC schools and graduated from Atkins High School. Shortly after, he was drafted by the Army and served in the Vietnam War until 1970. He received a Purple Heart and a Bronze star for his heroic efforts. He also worked at and retired from R.J. Reynolds.


He was preceded in death by his wife, Idella W. Carpenter, his parents, his Stepfather, Isiah G. Robinson, his maternal grandparents, Dayton & Mattie Carpenter, his aunts, Dorothy Gray & Myrtle Carpenter, his uncle, Howard Carpenter, and his son, Anthony Carpenter.


Services are set for a Visitation (Wake) on Friday, November 3, 2023, from 6:00pm - 8:00pm and the homegoing service is Saturday November 4, 2023 at 2:00pm. The location is:
