Fred Richard Keilbart, age 63, was taken from us after a short, difficult illness, the evening of May 11, 2023 in Salt Lake City, UT.

Fred was born in 1959 in Redding, California, the third of seven children. Fred loved being outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing, later garnering the nickname of "Fisher Fred" from those he had taught to fish in the youth and the Boy Scouts. He excelled in athletics, playing football and basketball in high school.

Fred was a life-long BYU Cougar fan and regularly attended their football games around the country. He was passionate about all sports and enjoyed playing and watching them with family and friends throughout his life.

Fred enlisted in the Air Force in 1982 and served as an Avionics Technician on F-11 aircraft in Plattsburg, NY and worked diligently to finish his degree in order to become an Officer. He completed his degree in 1987 and was commissioned as a Naval Officer in 1988 where he served as a Supply Officer until retiring in 1999 in Minnesota.

Fred then entered into a second career with the Dakota County staff, where he was respected and excelled as a manager in the child support office, retiring in 2022 and moving to Utah in order to live closer to family.

Fred served as a youth leader in his church and took many opportunities to help them learn to fulfill their potential and instilled a love of the outdoors with many. Later in life, he developed a passion for running and ended up completing 10 marathons before health concerns forced him to quit. He had a passion for travel and visited multiple locations around the world with cruises and airlines, but his favorite place was always Disney, especially with family.

Fred wasn't always an easy going person and if you weren't meeting his expectations he would let you know; especially if you were one of his children. But he was quick to include others in conversations and was easily approachable. Fred's grandchildren brought out the best in him. He loved them dearly and was adored by them…he will be sorely missed.

The funeral services will be held on June 9th, 2023. They will be located at the Daly Leach Memorial Chapel in Hamilton, MT, at noon where there will be a procession led by The Patriot Guard to the graveside service with full military honors.
