Col. George Watson Carr was born 7 Jun 1822 in Albemarle County, Virginia, the son of Col. Samuel Carr and Maria Mary Dabney. He married (1) Emma Gilmer Watts on 20 Nov 1860 and (2) Pinnie Lewis in Jul 1876.

George died 19 Apr 1899 at age 76 and was buried in the Watts Family Cemetery in Roanoke County, Virginia. In Nov 1977 his grave was moved to Fair View Cemetery.
