On Sunday afternoon, Feb. 4, 2024, Georgina Tilbury McDaniel, lovingly known as Tilly, moved to her Heavenly home. Tilly was a godly woman who loved the Lord, her family and many friends. She lived since April 2021 in Lake Jackson, Texas.

Tilly was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, on Aug. 20, 1943, to George and Annie LeClair Tilbury. She was married on Dec. 9, 1961, to Max Von McDaniel, of Hollis, Okla. Von and Tilly were married for almost 34 years until Von's death in 1995.

Tilly loved the Lord Jesus Christ with all her heart and was baptized into the Lord's church in 1961. She loved studying God's Word and was a faithful prayer warrior. Only heaven knows what a wonderful and eternal impact all her many years of praying had on her family, her friends and the world. She was a member of many congregations over her lifetime but most recently a long-time member of Dodson Church of Christ and Angleton Road Church of Christ in Lake Jackson.

Tilly worked at Vance Hunt & Associates in Dodson, Texas. She wrote a column, "Dodson… Past and Present," for the "Wellington Leader" newspaper. She loved interviewing anyone. She served as a leader of the Dodson Civic Club, volunteered at the Wellington Opportunity Center and set up displays at the Collingsworth Public Library in Wellington, Texas.

Tilly is survived by her four daughters, Dynise Finley and husband Barry, Joy Shipman and husband Terrill, Paula Savage and Vonessa Biehl; grandchildren Derek Finley and wife Amber, Laura Williams and husband Trevor, Kristen Finley, Kyle Wicklund and wife Katrina, Trey Savage and wife Corinn, Olivia Savage, Spencer Savage, Heather Shipman and Andrew Shipman; eight great-grandchildren; sisters Brenda Wake and Jackie Jefkins; and brother Tommy Tilbury.

Tilly was predeceased by her husband, Max Von; her in-laws, Newell and Ada Mae McDaniel; her parents, George and Annie Tilbury; sister Jeanette McKim; and son-in-law Rob Biehl.

The family will receive friends to celebrate Tilly's life at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2024, at the Dodson Community Center on Main St. in Dodson, followed by a graveside service at Dodson Cemetery. Arrangements are by Adams Funeral Home of Wellington.
