Joan Adams Smith, 92, beloved wife of the late Lee Vernon Smith, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 1, 2024.

Born in Mauldin, SC, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin Woodfin Adams and Lena Garrett Adams.

Mrs. Smith was known throughout her community for helping raise her siblings and helping anyone in need. She compassionately took care of children in her daycare for over 30 years. She was a God-fearing woman who loved her family, and her church family at Landmark Baptist Church, where she was a charter member. She taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and thoroughly enjoyed serving on the Bereavement Committee.

Surviving are her children, Wendell Smith (Melinda) of Bradenton, FL, and Teresa Smith Porter (Kerry) of Pickens; grandchildren, Hayley Smith Conn (Forrest), Samantha Smith, and Meghan "Meggie" Porter; a great-granddaughter, Emory Grace Porter; and a sister, Elane Adams Finley of Belton.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a granddaughter, Stephany Grace Porter; and brothers, James, Paul, Don, and Virgil Adams.

Burial in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
