Leona Schelling, 83, of Highland passed away on January 27, 2024 at Hudson Valley Rehab in Highland, NY.
Leona was born on August 2nd, 1940 in Rhinebeck, NY to parents Harry Vincent and Anna Balsam Teator, both deceased.
She grew up in Red Hook and was a graduate of Red Hook High School. She continued her education at SUNY Cobleskill studying secretarial sciences. Leona was a devoted and caring mother to Les, raising him in Woodstock, NY. She was an avid reader, enjoyed crocheting and playing Canasta with friends. Leona worked for years as an administrative assistant for the Mid-Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union.
Leona is survived by her son Les (Paula) Schelling of Raleigh, NC; sisters Elizabeth Dunham of Columbus, OH, and Marion Van Wagner of San Antonio, TX; grandson Kevin Schelling and his partner, Rachel, of Moyock, NC; and granddaughter Danielle Schelling of Raleigh, NC.
In addition to her parents, Leona is predeceased by her sister, Jean Haight.
A memorial service followed by internment at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery will take place in the spring.
