MAULDIN, EVELYN
Evelyn H. Mauldin, of Las Vegas, passed on to our Heavenly Father late Monday, Jan. 16, 2006, after a brief illness. She was born Nov. 26, 1928, in Enterprise, Utah, and resided in Las Vegas for over 40 years. Evelyn was stricken with polio in her late teens, from that she gained a special place in her heart for the physically and mentally disabled. She obtained her masters degree at UNLV and taught at Helen J. Stewart school until her retirement. Along with her teaching duties she provided a foster home to her students over the years. Evelyn worked with the Special Olympic program, she was an accomplished artist who at times displayed her art at the Twin Lakes Art Gallery. Evelyn had a kind spirit, she enjoyed a good laugh, the beauty in nature and music. She will be missed by her close friends and her nieces. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, John Mauldin. She is survived by her children, Phil (Jan) Mauldin of Akron, Ohio, and Loni Beckwith of Nashville, Tenn.; her grandchildren, Johanna, Randy, Lindsay and Diane; her sister, Lillian Tullis; and brother, Doug Hall, both of Utah; in addition, many nieces and nephews as well as her four legged children, Sugar and Bunny. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20, at Palm Mortuary (Oakey/Jones). Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, with a brief viewing from 9-9:30 a.m., both at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel, 4500 Pennwood Ave (Arville). Graveside services and burial in Enterprise, Utah, Saturday afternoon. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations in Evelyn's memory made to: Las Vegas Basset Rescue, P.O. Box 28786, Las Vegas, NV 89126.
